Welcome  Montessori  Teachers

How we Montessori:
Wildflower Designing is based on observations of Wildflowers.

If you compare two wildflowers and describe their characteristics, you might find many unique differences and contrasts, which set them apart from each other.

However, when you compare wildflowers to all flowers, they look more like each other than like any other flower.

Introduction

Wildflower Designing knows Montessori.

Montessori classrooms are created adhering to Montessori guidelines and sections, principles and function, beauty and simplicity. Wildflower Designing ruggedly embraces Authentic Montessori, while still embodying the personality of the school's geography, the Head of School's vision, the age range of the students, and the community each school serves.

About Founder Kim Holleman

Kim Holleman is a multidisciplinary designer who as a child, attended a bilingual Spanish-English Montessori School in South Florida.

She created Wildflower Designing in 2013 at MIT Media Lab, with the Social Computing Group, when she was tasked with creating a Montessori interior design and school building system with a unique, branded authentic Montessori signature style that reflects environmental values, sustainability and non-toxic principles in the designs.

Skill-set and Role

Over 20 years in interior architecture, art and interior design, shop front and retail renovation, home renovation, carpentry, welding, and traditional construction, and 7 years in Montessori School design and construction, sets us apart from other designers.

The Designer works as a peer to your contractor and architect and must be Montessori-fluent in order to create an authentic environment.

In addition to doing the design work with teachers, there is sometimes the need of explaining Montessori to the contractor and the architect in ways that they can professionally understand, in order to keep costs low, miscommunications at bay, and timelines tight.

Wildflower Designing has been working with Montessori Teachers for over 7 years and holds the institutional knowledge of more than 30 Montessori Schools, informed by over 60 Montessori Teacher-Leaders who continuously shape and inform this process as we go.

Hearing from you about how to make this process even better and even more aligned with Montessori principles, is crucial and always welcome.

How it works

Consult. Share blueprints, photos of your space, inspiration pics, needs, share your tastes, cultural and thematic interests, and other aspects of your vision -and any special wishes or needs you have for your school.

Look. We'll look over your images and understand your school and what you need. We put together designs in collaboration inside the process of Wildflower Designing as your journey to the first day of school, unfolds.

Choose. You’ll be the ultimate voice. All of the expertise and history of Wildflower Designing goes into positioning you for success, and prioritizing your needs, your tastes, your visual identity, your cultural identity, your school's ethos, branding and more.

See Your Vision. Design Renderings! Furniture Layouts! Mood Boards! Shopping Lists! Budgets! Support! I create a series of renderings based on your real photos so you can see your school come to life ahead of schedule. These tools plan the interior, the signature style, the functional aspects, the classroom furniture layouts, well in advance of your school opening, so you have the time you need to set up in your finished space before you open. Renderings help communicate to your contractors, architects, funders, landlords, parents, stakeholders, supporters, and to ourselves, your ultimate vision.

Make It Happen. Design plans are comprehensive over the course of your build-out and include: the design scheme, paint color schemes, materials lists, costs, renderings, furniture layouts, teacher action list, budget, custom design work, task lists and blueprints for the contractor, timelines, and the support to execute everything inside your plan in a streamline fashion.

All of the work, sourcing, research, choices, renderings and more will be saved into the master archive called an Airtable, so you will also have a complete information archive for your school, of your entire journey, from dream to reality.
